Surely there must be a support group somewhere nearby.
I am Steven Parkes an educator in the senior phase in a high school in a suburb of Cape Town.
I have done some searching for a support group for teachers/educators who have dyslexia. Up to now there do not seem to be any in my area.
Does anyone know of such a support group in Cape Town or surrounds?

Stephen, I suggest that you get in touch with Axel Gudmundsson at Gifted Dyslexic - - who is based in Cape Town. You'll find contact information on that web site. Axel frequently gives lectures at local schools, and I am sure that he would be delighted to meet you and probably would enthusiastically support your idea for a support group. Perhaps he has heard from others with similar concerns.

Hello my name is Andrew Davis. I am currently attending college and would like to go into a career in the S.T.E.M filed. However, due to my dyslexia, I tend to struggle in class. I was wondering if anyone knows of somebody in fairfied county, CT that is using the davis method or a similar method

Andrew, we have links to a search form and maps to help find a licensed Davis provider here:

The nearest Facilitators to you are in Montclair, New Jersey -- web site:
and Fairhaven, Massachusetts -- web site:

Keep in mind that it's a one week program, so it is something you could arrange to do while you have a break from school. I think you would find that a program could make a huge difference in your ability to keep up with your classes. It is very common for adult clients to experience dramatic increases in reading comfort, speed and comprehension within the one-week program, though of course you do need to follow up and integrate the Davis techniques into your daily life and study routines.

Hi Steven
I'm also an educator with dyslexia I works as an ESL teacher in primary.
And I am many time zones from yourself.
I have never heard of another teacher with dyslexia in primary. But I have come a cross a few in secondary education and in higher education.
What I have noticed is if you diclose your dyslexia your peers and bosses will always be looking for signs of dyslexia but if you are not asked to disclose no one will even question you for asking how to spell a word or ask someone to proff read something for you as you will also be asked to proff read something for others.

Kind Regards
